FAQs
Do you have a question regarding working with me? I totally understand - it's nerve-racking considering working with a coach.
To help you get your answers quickly, I’ve compiled a list of some of the most popular questions I’ve received from clients, accompanied by thorough answers. Can’t find what you’re looking for? Get in touch and I’ll be happy to help.
What is the benefit of working with you?
The FMC was created because I think there is a gap in the financial services market.
When I was a new parent, I realised that most of the difficulties families face when it comes to "managing the family budget" can't be solved by being recommended a new pension or ISA by a financial adviser. They won't necessarily be improved by being parroted old tropes like "spend less, save more" either.
Unless you have a specific vision of what your family life SHOULD look like, it's easy to let money "run away from us", to let costs spiral, to allow expenses on things we don't truly value to languish unchallenged in our direct debit lists.
I believe there is a better way - a calmer, gentler way.
I believe that families, just like mine, value being helped, guided, to really look at what they're spending on a regular basis - and ask whether they're really getting the maximum value from those expenditures.
So that's what my Freshen Up offering does. It gives you, as parents, as a family, the opportunity to really look at your budget and ask, do we enjoy what we're spending our money on, and if not, what should we change?
What are your qualifications?
A great question!

I have the Certificate in Financial Services & the Certificate in Life and Pensions.
I am a member of both the Chartered Insurance Institute and the Personal Finance Society.
I am a member of the IFW - Institute for Financial Wellbeing.
Finally, I have an Honours Law Degree from the University of Aberdeen.

Are there any wrong answers in coaching?
Absolutely not!
I'm a coach - not a teacher. My job is to help you to work together as a family "team" to decide what the right choices are for YOU.
You don't have to use your money in a particular way to "win" at coaching - you simply have to use your money in the right way for YOUR family.
Do I need to have investment experience?
Absolutely not! Financial coaching is not financial advice - so I don't make any product or investment recommendations to you.
My primary focus is on your "relationship with" money and your relationship with each other as a "team". The whole process is about your family coming together to share one financial vision - and creating a new strategy for using your money that provides the life you want, in the way that you want.
What is your availability?
As might have been evident as you explored the website, having a daughter myself, I know that we can't always fit into 9-5 boxes for coaching! My booking page allows you to book a connectivity call on the following days & times:
Tuesday & Thursday: 10AM - 11:30AM, 1:00PM-2:00PM, 8:30PM - 9:00PM
Due to being a mum myself, I don't normally work during the UK school holidays - however if you require a more bespoke service, please call me or email, and we may be able to arrange one-off sessions during these times.
You can book your free 30 minute connectivity call for any day and time I work that best suits you.
Our actual coaching sessions will be scheduled in advance (and can sometimes be outside of the days and times listed above to better fit with your schedules) and always in agreement with you via phone or zoom - so that we both have time to prepare for the sessions.
Do you protect my data?
All my client details and sessions are always confidential. I keep a full record of my clients and their session notes, and this is always password protected or in a locked cabinet (if in paper form).
I do have a full terms and conditions document that I ask all clients to sign upon commencing coaching with me, and this includes information regarding GDPR.
I can provide a full copy of all the data that I hold on you upon request.
Should you wish me to discuss your coaching with your Wealth Manager I will need you to sign a data release before I speak to anyone regarding your coaching, to ensure that both you and I are fully aware of the remit of my discussions with your desired contact.
Can I sample your coaching?
I offer a complimentary 30 minute connectivity call or Zoom to any prospective client to ensure that we are a good fit.
What if you can't help?
I've yet to come across a client that hasn't taken some benefit from working with me (that's the benefit of the no-obligation 30 minute session) - but in the unlikely event that I can't, it's usually because:
A client wants regulated financial advice which coaches cannot legally provide. If that's the case, I will be totally transparent. If I know of a Wealth Manager or a Financial Planner that might suit your needs, I will offer to provide you with their details (but this is not a recommendation to use them).
